95 days and counting...

Today I was finally able to run, after being sidelined from a stress fracture that I got at the Houston Marathon. I ran a steady 5K in 27 minutes and had absolutely no pain. I will not be adding too much mileage between now and March, just to make sure it doesn't come back and get me before raceday.
Another good thing that happend today, I was announced as a Base Performance Ambassador. The products they produce are essential to my training and have really helped along the way. I really like the Aminos and multivitamins the best. The Aminos are the first product in drink form that doesn't give me stomach trouble. Anyone that is serious about endurance training should really give them a try.

IMTX Training update

Still feeling a little overwhelmed with Ironman training at the moment.  I knew going into this the time commitments would be plentiful, but between working my last few rotations of shift work and getting my department trained, it seems that sleep will be cut short in the next few weeks.

Today I ran for the first time since the Houston Marathon and am pretty sure my stress fracture is still not healed 100%.  I ran two miles at a steady 9min pace, but I felt a twinge in my foot and then the pain reappeared, so I stopped.  A few hours later, the pain was gone.  Maybe it is all in my head.

In the interim, I plan on focusing on time on the bike and working more diligently on the swim; two areas I lack a lot of experience.  It is still a great feeling to have such a support group encouraging me to pursue this and never stop.  Thanks all.
